Just ten years ago, as an adult, I started playing tennis, which has been one of the determinants of my life and the life of my family ever since.

Levente, my coach (eternal thanks, Levi 😊) asked me for the first time what my goal was with tennis: “I want to play in tournaments and win within 5 years.” I answered. In the first two years, everyone beat me. Always. Then I started winning one game at a time, and 5 years later I won my first tournament. I called him first, then his successor. Maybe I even cried a little 😊

Since then I have won several tournaments, and then also with the boys as team captain. Like this week.

I felt it was time to stop and look at what led to my success. Then I found generalizable thoughts, which I am now happy to share. Maybe they are useful for you too.

The determination

Especially at the beginning, I had to be determined and persistent, even if sometimes I felt like I wasn’t making progress. When I think about the goals I have achieved, I realize that my determination was one of the most important factors that helped me overcome difficulties. I continue to use my determination when faced with new challenges.

The learning

I realized that I could never reach a point where I had nothing left to learn. There was always something new that I could learn, an area that I could develop. This approach has helped me to continuously improve. Caution: there is a risk of protectionism.

The power of the web

One of my most important realizations is that the people I worked with, my friends and family, played a big role in my success. They gave me the support, inspiration and advice I needed to achieve my goals. Networking and building strong relationships have contributed to my success and personal growth.

Flexibility

I wasn’t always successful on the first try, and there were times when I had to adjust my plans. Flexibility has allowed me to adapt to changing circumstances and find new solutions to problems. Flexibility has taught me not to be afraid to change and try new possibilities.

Self-awareness

During my journey, I learned about my own strengths and weaknesses. This self-awareness allowed me to make better use of my talents and develop my shortcomings. Self-awareness has improved my confidence and helped me to communicate more effectively with others and to find the best way to achieve my goals.

Creating balance

At some point, sooner rather than later, I realized the importance of maintaining a balance between different areas of my life. Focus not only on work or career, but also on personal relationships, health and well-being. Finding balance has helped me live a more balanced and happy life, which has contributed to my success.

Learning from mistakes

Not everything has gone perfectly in my life and there have been mistakes that I have made. However, I realized that these mistakes are not failures, but learning opportunities. Accepting and learning from mistakes has allowed me to not be afraid to take risks and explore new paths.

My successes helped me learn important life lessons and experience personal growth. I hope these lessons can help you achieve your own success and find your best self. When we approach our goals with determination, a desire to learn and flexibility, we are able to continue to grow and live the life we have always wanted.
